Charred box

A simple pine box from real junk bedframe wood.

By ripping the pieces and jointing I was able to get clean "quarter sawn" boards which I was hoping would work well to emphasize the grain when charred.

Charred and brushed with a wire brush to emphasize the grain texture - it still looks pretty flat in the photo but it's maybe 1mm deeper between the growth rings. 

Finished with shellac
