Bed lamps
Converted old bedside table lamps into "shoji" style lamps.
Started with wood from the legs of a coffee table
One lamp was made first as a prototype
The difuser material was made from fairly heavy watercolour paper (140gsm) which was coated with polyurethane to make it translucent and more durable.
The grid pieces were cut from draw fronts, I think they are silky oak.
A measuring mistake meant that all these grids didn't end up with the right proportions, so a couple of extra horizontal members were added in.
The main lesson from the prototype was that the lamp assembly needs to be easy to remove, this was pretty easy using a screw and washer to hold the lamp in position in a rebate in the base.
